Dark Wizard: Part III

Here is a scene render of the dark wizard bringing upon his wrath!

The Dark Wizard: Part II

Here are some work in progress shots. This is primarily what the character looked like in the final animation. We had to post our work in the making to get credit for the project, which was a good idea. I like going back and seeing all the work in progress.

The Dark Wizard: Part I

For my final in 3d effects I wanted to incorporate all the things that we had learned in class. there were rain particles, snow, glowing particles, instanced particles, rigid body collisions etc... However I wanted a really bad ass model to show that I could do it all! So I made an evil wizard that would use magic to create all of those things.

It started off with lots of character design, what the character would look like, male or female, tall or short etc.. Once an idea was laid down then I made a turn around of the characters proportions and what the clothing would look like and what colors to use. I decided I wanted an egyptian-esque feel to the character.

If I had to do one thing for the rest of my life, it would be a character/object/scenery designer. I have sketchbooks upon sketchbooks upon sketchbooks of character designs and drawings of that nature. (just ask if you want to see them, i'll show them!)

I believe i will have to do this in two parts because there are so many pictures to this projects for one post! I will start off with the concept art I did for the character. In the first picture are conceptual character sketches. Trying to get a idea of what I wanted.

3D Model: Futuristic

Here is a model I made in 3Ds Max for my mid-term in advanced 3d class. We had to make ann original low poly model. There were so many revisions made to this model I cant even tell you how many hours were spent on it except that it was ALOT! It started out with a conceptual design and then I made a female base mesh to start off with. I unwrapped it and painted it in photoshop. There is a diffuse map, specular map, bump map, opacity map and a glossiness map. I believe thats all of them....haha.

New Work!

Hello, It was quite the semester this past month so i did not really have the time to update the blog with new work. But now I am on a short break in between semesters and I have the time. Next semester is my last semester!! I am taking my last two classes! My internship and portfolio class. I made sure that I didn't have to take any other classes, because I feel my school always springs a english class or math class on me. I am currently in the process of locating an internship as well, making a resume and cover letter to send out (hopefully today!)

Anyway, I think I'll post something I did for my 3d effects cl
ass, which was really a fun class. I learned a lot from my teacher Mr. Michael McCarthy. This image is from a homework assignment we had to do. It had to do with instanced particles. I decided to do an underwater scene where the instanced particles were fish! For each project we had to also have a story. My story was that this underwater ROVER was looking for treasure, and at the end finds a treasure chest of gold coins.

Dr. jekyll.....Mr.....uuhhh

So this is a design for my Advanced 3d animation class. I wanted to do a man changing into a werewolf initially. But then when sketching ideas, I realized that the concept has been beaten to death. So instead of a werewolf I drew some mutant, monster thing. I like it, I think Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde....kinda.

There are not enough hours in the day...

As I was saying, we are all working on an "Alien" theme now. Our job this week was to design five characters in a style other than our own. I drew inspiration from the cartoon "Sebastien" which is on Gobelins.fr under animacion.

Also we had to take a shot of The Coolidge corner and draw it in four different styles (Or at least I had to). My favorite is the first one. It reminds me of silent hill.

Yup....

Well my client rejected another animatic. Oh well! Instead my production team class and myself will be working on a whole new concept about aliens. Anyway heres the last animatic I did....meh.

Animation production Team: Round II

So my idea was rejected (The Witch/Cell Phone). But I'm in a new group, and our theme is based off one of the ideas that was pitched to the client. The theme is magic. So I had to interpret the students idea into my own. Below are the character concepts Ive created thus far.

Client Response To My Pitch..

Well my animatic for the theatre was denied. My animatic is classified as "option C".........

" Options C and D do not work for us at all. There seems to us to be a theme way off our mark. We do not want to threaten our audience with extraterrestrials, the devil, or imps of any kind. We want them to be aware of how they disturb other audience members, making it difficult to concentrate on the program, because of the noise or the light. We want a more gentle message, a reminder of courtesy. The Coolidge does not want to be mean to anyone. Think gentle, wry, sardonic---a prod to behave well."

I still think, nothing says get off your phone like the threat of a witch burning.
